CHAPTER 328.

PROMISSORY OATHS.

AN ACT RELATING TO PROMISSORY OATHS.

[29th December 1964.1

1. This Act may be cited as The Promissory Oaths Act.

2.-(1) The oaths in this Act referred to respectively 'as the Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath shall be in the forms prescribed by the Schedule to the Constitution.

(2) The oath in this Act referred to as the Official Oath shall be in the following form: 'I, A. B., do swear that I will well and truly serve Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second in the office of So help me God.' 3. The Oaths required by the Constitution to be taken by the Governor and an Acting Governor shall be tendered by the Chief Justice or, in his absence, by a Judge of the Supreme Court in the presence of such Ministers, Senators, Members of the House of Assembly, Chief Officials and principal inhabitants as can conveniently be present.

4. The Oath of Allegiance and Official Oath shall be taken by each of the holders of the offices mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act as soon as may be after his acceptance of office and shall be tendered by the Governor or such public officer as he may direct to tender the same.

5. The Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath shall be taken by each of the holders of the offices mentioned in the Second Schedule to this Act as soon as may be after his acceptance of office and shall be tendered by a Judge of the Supreme Court or, if a Judge so directs, by the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
