CHAPTER 114.

BUSINESS NAMES (USE OF ROYAL TITLES).

AN ACT TO CONTROL THE USE OF THE ROYAL TITLES IN 1 of 1954.

[5th April 1954.] 1. This Act may be cited as The Business Names 'Short title.

(Use of Royal Titles) Act.

  1. In this Act, unless the context otherwise Interpretation.

    requires'business' includes profession;

    'business name' means the name or style under which any business is carried on, whether in partnership or otherwise;

    'firm' means an unincorporate body, of two or more individuals, or one or more individuals and one or more corporations, or two or more corporations, who have entered into partnership with one another with a view to carrying on business for profit;

    'individual' means a natural person and does not include a corporation.

  2. No business name shall contain the words Use of certain 'Royal' or 'Imperial' or any other word which in the bunss names opinion of the Governor suggests, or is calculated to suggest, the patronage of Her Majesty or of any member of the Royal Family or connection with Her Majesty's Government or any department thereof in the United Kingdom or elsewhere.

  3. The provisions of this Act shall not apply to- Application.

    (a) any business name in current use in the Colony on the date on which this Act comes into force; or (b) any business name authorised by the Governor.
