CHAPTER 99.

IMPORT CONTROL REGULATIONS.

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONTROL OF IMPORTS INTO THE COLONY.

[20th June 1955.] 1. This Act may be cited as The Import Control Regulations Act.

  1. In this Act and in the regulations made under this Act, 'goods' means anything capable of being imported into the Colony.

  2. From and after the coming into operation of this Act the Governor may by Order make such regulations (hereinafter described as the Import Regulations) as he may deem expedient for the purpose of controlling the importation into the Colony of goods.

  3. From and after the coming into operation of this Act the Governor may by notice in the Gazette appoint a person or body of persons to be the competent authority to enforce the Import Regulations.

  4. --(1) The competent authority may appoint such agents as may be necessary for the efficient carrying out of the duties of the competent authority under the Import Regulations.

    (2) Without prejudice to the generality of the powers conferred upon the competent authority by the Import Regulations, the competent authority may delegate to his agent any powers conferred upon the competent authority by the Import Regulations in respect of the grant of or refusal to grant any licence, certificate, permit or other authorization required by the Import Regulations.

  5. The Governor may, if he sees fit, by notice in the Gazette appoint any person or body of persons to advise the competent authority in the exercise of the powers conferred upon such competent authority by the Import Regulations.
