    OLD AGE PENSION.

    AN ACT TO PROVIDE PENSIONS FOR AGED PERSONS. 51 of 1957.

    [Commencement 1st January 1958.] 1. This Act may be cited as The Old Age Pension short title.

    Act.

  24. In this Act, unless the context otherwise Interpretation.

    requires'aged person' means- 70 of 1959, s. 2.

    (a) in the case of a male, any person who has attained the age of sixty-five years or upwards and who is not worth more than one thousand pounds; and (b) in the case of a female, any person who has attained the age of sixty years or upwards and who is not worth more than one thousand pounds, and who is not in receipt of an income in excess of twenty shillings per week from any source other than charity;

    'agent' means 'a 'member of the immediate family of an aged person appointed by a Commissioner under section 7 of this Act;

    'Commissioner' means in the island of New Providence a Stipendiary and Circuit Magistrate, and in an Out Island district the commissioner for such district;

    'district' means the island of New Providence or an Out Island district;

    'member of the immediate family' in reference to an aged person means wife or husband, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, stepson, stepdaughter, brother, sister, half-brother, halfsister, nephew or niece;

    Pension to be paid to aged person.

    Value of property in case of married couple.

    Aged person.may apply to be registered.

    Aged person may appear by member of family.

    'prescribed' means prescribed by the rules made under this Act;

    'register' means the register to be kept pursuant to section 8 of this Act;

    'rules' means the rules made under this Act.
