    CHAPTER 200.

    OUT ISLANDS ELECTRICITY.

    AN ACT TO RIEPEAL AND RE-ENACT THE OUr ISLANDS 17 of 1965.

    ELECTRICITY AcT.

    [18th May 1965.1 [Commencement 1 st January 1965.] 1. This Act may be cited as The Out Islands Short title.

    Electricity Act.

  17. In this Act, unless the context otherwise 'interpretation.

    requires'customs duties' means the duties of customs levied by The Tariff Act and the ad valorem Ch. 267.

    duties imposed by The Emergency Tax Act asCh 20 well as any other duties or taxes now or here- C.20 after imposed upon or payable in respect of goods imported into the Colony, except stamp duties;

    'electrical system' includes the whole of any plant or apparatus designed for the supply of electrical energy including prime movers, if any, and all necessary plant, buildings and land in connection therewith, pipe lines, supply lines, transformers and consuming apparatus, if any;

    'licensed undertaker' means a person authorizect under this Act to supply electrical energy to the public in any part of the Out Islands;

    'cmaterials' means(a) electrical generators, prime movers, pumps, fans, pipework, heat exchangers, air compressors, transformers and receivers to be used in connection with such generators including spare parts therefor;

    (b) switch and fuse gear associated. with electricity generating stations and main electricity distribution systems including spare parts therefor;

    (c) overhead and underground electricity distribution apparatus and materials;

    (d) electricity and oil measuring and indicating apparatus including spare parts therefor;

    (e) fuel and lubricating oils;

    (f) fuel and storage and road transporting tanks, flexible fuel pipes and valves; and (g) street lighting lanterns, supports and control apparatus excluding light lamps:

    Provided that the Minister may by Order(i) specify the types of fuel and lubricating oils which shall be included in this definition; and (ii) add to or amend such definition;

    'Minister' means the Minister charged with the responsibility for the administration of this Act.

    Application shall be made to the Minister.

    Minister may enter into agreement with applicant.

  18. Any person who desires to construct an electrical system for the purpose of supplying electrical energy inter alia to the public in any part of the OutIslands may make application to the Minister for the approval thereof. Every such application shall be in writing and shall contain full particulars of the proposed electrical system and an estimate of the cost thereof and shall be accompanied by a plan of the location of the same, by plans and drawings of the system and by such other information as the Minister may require.
