CHAPTER 29.

WILD HORSES.

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE CAPTURE OF WILD HORSES IN THE ISLAND OF ABACO EXCEPT UNDER LICENCE FROM THE MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES.

  1. -(1) This Act may be cited as The Wild Horses (Protection) (Abaco) Act.

    (2) This Act shall apply to the Island of Abaco.

  2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires'Minister' means the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries or such other Minister to whom the Governor may in accordance with the Constituition assign the administration of this Act;

    'wild horse' means any member of the species equus caballus in a state of nature and includes the young of such species.

  3. -(1) No person shall at any time on the Island of Abaco take, capture, attempt to take, attempt to capture or molest any wild horse save and except under the authority of a licence issued by the Minister under the provisions of section 4 of this Act.

    (2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding one hundred pounds, and the court may in addition order that any wild horse in respect of which such offence has been committed shall be forthwith set at liberty.
