CHAPTER 330.

PRISON DEPARTMENT (SUBORDINATE OFFICERS' SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES).

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THE RATES OF SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES OF SUBORDINATE OFFICERS OF THE PRISON DEPARTMENT AND TO REPEAL THE PRISON DEPARTMENT (SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES) ACT 1956.

[9th June 1960.] 1. This Act may be cited as The Prison Department (Subordinate Officers' Salaries and Allowances) Act.

2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires'Public Service Commission' means the Commission established by section 95 of the Constitution;

   'subordinate officer' means an officer of the Prison Department holding a rank appearing in the first column of the First Schedule to this Act.

3. -(1) The salaries payable to subordinate officers shall be those specified in the second column of the First Schedule to this Act in respect of their ranks appearing in the first column thereof.

   (2) Every sub.ordinate officer shall be entitled to receive and shall be paid in addition to his salary payable under the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, a non-pensionable allowance calculated on such salary at the rate of five per centum per annum.

   (3) The House of Assembly may from time to time by resolution vary the amount -of the non-pensionable allowance provided by this Act and may also by resolution revoke the said allowance, and, if having at any time revoked the said allowance may, from time to time 11 of 1960.

   by resolution, re-instate such allowance either in whole or in part.

   (4) Notwithstanding the provisions of this Act, or any other Act, if and when the total revenue of the Colony in respect of any financial year shall fall below ten million pounds, the salaries of subordinate officers payable under the provisions of this Act shall, as from the first day of April in the immediately succeeding financial year, be reduced by five per centum in respect of each five hundred thousand pounds, or part thereof, fall in revenue below ten million pounds.

4. -(1) Subordinate officers holding ranks specified in the first column of the Second Schedule to this Act shall be provided with free quarters if such are available. If free quarters are not available for any such...
